From crossfit to yoga.

Feeling a inspired to write today. So im gonna rant about my thoughts on changing my fitness addiction from crossfit to yoga and mainly my take on this whole journey of being a so called self taught yogi.

Previously, i have been crazy over kettlebell, box jump, and HIIT training. Till the day that i found out i have tendonitis which affected my left wrist. Its been frustrating for me as i cant workout or carry my kettlebell. No overhead press are allowed as i will aggravate the injure tendon more. I had my one week rest and it still didnt get any better. Everytime i carry my 12kg KB on my left, i feel this burning sensation on my wrist and my hand will start to vibrate. I got really sad, spoke to the hubster abt it and he told me rest. Again! And being the fitness freak, i cant stop. I feel empty when i dont sweat. Its like im missing something. Haha. Then... I started to go back to yoga. Yes, i incorporate yoga too in my fitness routine but it wasnt really focusing on it. It was mainly to switch up my routine.

To cut short, i began practicing yoga again and i fell in love with it. Like head over heels. Haha like seriously what other exersice allows u to have your head touching ur bum? Haha seriously those twisting and bending, its amazing. U'll be amaze of what ur body can do actually. Yoga is all about calmness, balancing, flexibility and coolness. Like doing something without stressing it. As for me, i am blessed w flexibility. not that much. but im quite flexible. so it was a smooth start. And one thing i know is that yoga needs lots of core muscles. U need to have strong core to balance, to lift ur hips up in certain poses. Then, i started to read up about all the goodness of yoga, the anatomy, the breathing, the types of yoga to the yogic diet. Yeah u name it, google was my best friend for the past few months.

I started being vegan last week. Not for life. But for 7 days. Just to have that feel since most yogi are vegan. Why? Cos it has something to do with the ayuverdic. Google it up. Im lazy to type haha. So but actually yoga is about balancing and being healthy. Eat more greens not processed food. As yoga is all about cleansing and purification of the inner self. So yeah, today is my 5th day, and i actually feel just fine without meat. And it was easy for me as i have been practicing clean eating, no big difference. Just no more eggs and tuna. I actually feel more energetic and i sleep better at night, i used to have insomnia. But now im happy that i can sleep :) hah theres a plus point there.

What other plus point? I move a step further in my poses. Yay! Manage to do the crow, side crow, and half of the headstand. Thats like an accomplishment in life u know. So happy of how much my core has strengthen and my arms got stronger. Its just beyond amazing.

After thinking in depth. I wouldnt be a vegan or vegatarian or lacto-ovo vegetarian or pescetarian in specific. I will just live healthy and go green and be healthy in my choice of food. Over this week, i've realized that after eating greens i've lost the temptation of eating unhealthy food. I dont crave them anymore. So im just going by the rules of eating healthy nutrituous food that will bring energy and balance. Like the french said, pay attention to what i eat. I dont need to be vegan in order to be a yogi. But my diet will consist mostly greens and other healthy food to give me energy. Im instilling consciousness in whatever i do. To find peace in oneself, one has got to let go. I will ensure that this journey will be for the benefit of all. Happier life and less stress 😊

Have a great week ahead. I hope it will be a good and blessed one. Here's my happy post yoga face with the little yogi.

of celebration and calories

my god. this raya was one whiny cranky grouchy raya. baby boy was unwell. teething and diarrhea. had to deal with a cry baby the entire holiday. yeap lucky in the sense that we need not have to travel  long distance to both hubs and my parents house cos we are both from ipoh. thats a blessing. i wonder how adrian will be if he had to suffer hours of traffic jam in the car.

other than that, we enjoyed food to the maximum. which i think this year raya, i ate the most biscuits, rendangs, lemangs, peanut sauce( imma sucker for peanuts. i eat them all alone without nasi impit or ketupat). not to mention how i wallop all those mee rebus, rojak, mee goreng, satay and cendol during in laws open house. yeah shoot me now. but thanks for eating clean. alhamdullillah i did not gain weight. weehoo. probably gain water weight. thats all. ehehe

and finally today i can resume back to my clean eating routine and i never feel happier. for once i can be at the comfort of my own house and not having ppl judging me for throwing away the egg yolks. yeah i throw my yolks away. so what. blergh stop glaring at me like i just murdered someone. grrr

adrian is getting better. everyone can resume to their everyday routine and no mote cry baby and annoyed parents. both adrian and i need some peace and quite time. hahha yeah we are anti social like that. we like to cuddle in the room w no one else except daddy. say whatever, we dont like loud environment. we are the cool ppl. haha

cant wait to wake up to a brand new day. and a big bowl of oatmeal to start my day. good night earthlings :) sleep tight. thank god for what we have today.

Crossfit June

woke up sore from top to toe. my back, fore arms, quad. but indeed the best feeling ever.

i went all out on KB training since last week. i dont do cardio anymore cos those burpees and KB swings is already a cardio.

the best part about crossfit is that its only 20mins of workout and you really get the maximum effect. cos you push your body all out. i am now trying to master the hand stand push up ( HSPU).

spend quite a bit this month for our ( my husband and I) kinda expensive hobby. whey protein and new KB. cant wait for them to arrive. wheee.

so, here's what going on my mind this week. why cant people understand that i am not on a losing weight journey anymore. it has already become my lifestyle to train and get stronger. i love working out, its a passion. i dont starve, i do eat. 6 times a day in fact.

even my closest friend said that you are skinny, your fats are barely visible. well that makes me really sad, actually. so, i train even harder. yesterday was my rest day actually i was damn sore from the previous workout but i get so mad that some people just dont get the point that i train to get stronger. to lose my body fat. well its ok. not everyone will understand what ur goal is. the tiger never lose sleep to the opinion of a sheep,ey?

so yes, did a crazy workout right after. i felt so much better. and i ate hell a lot after that too. haha was so damn hungry.   had my protein shake w sweet potato and banana. then i got even hungrier, chow down on tuna, eggs and veggies. 2 hours after got hungry again, ate 1 green apple. then corn and the highlight, ramly burger and garrett's popcorn. oh yes i have sinned. lol cant help it. so freaking hungry. guess my metabolic rate went crazy yesterday.

and i woke up today hungry. again! had my coffee rolled oats topped with choc sauce, pb and banana. ohh im so satisfied now. sipping my green tea as im ranting this out.

on the other note, im very happy to be able to inspire people to live healthy and train. especially, my husband. he has been a great supporter. i even got him to wake up early to train. he's eating well too. cant wait for him to get back in shape. im so psyche to see his progress. and also to friends who has been supporting, you guys are awesome!

to conclude, i would say strong is the new skinny.have a blessed friday everyone! xx

Change for a better you.

If it doesnt challenge you, it doesnt change you.

Change or remain the same.

I seriously live by that quote now. I have been clean eating for a while now. You'll be able to see it on my Instagram feeds. I no longer try to damage my internal organs or attempt to clog my arteries. This is a no turning back journey.

Why i love clean eating? Because i actually felt more energized throughout the day, and no more lethargy. Yes, i always feel tired all day long even wheni do nothing. But by eating clean it has helped me overcome this problem and no more joint pains. Yay to that!

Its all in our mind. You have to focus and have a serious attitude toward this. I am telling you, just by eating clean, u will be able to see results. What to do for your first step to clean eating? Ditch that carbonated drinks will you. You musnt be drinking your calories, hun! Next, drink lots of water! Then, eliminate refined sugars, refined carbs ( all those white bread, white rice, white potatos) toss that away from ur diet. Lastly, stock up ur kitchen with lots of greens and fruits. When you crave for those candy, eat your fruits :) they sweet too and have vitamins thats good for your body!

Now, let me remind you, if you dont watch what you eat, you wont be seeing results. Have you heard the saying, ' 30% gym, 70% kitchen/nutrition, 100% mental'? Well its true, abs are made in the kitchen. Again, no diet, no abs baby :)

Go on and try eating clean. Remember, its all in ur mind. You can do this!

Kettlebell kind of sunday..

I did not workout on saturday. Had a very bad sore after leg day on Friday. No yoga too but i went for a walk in the park w the family.

Was still sore on sunday but determination kicked in, had my kettle bell workout for 30 minutes. Felt like i went to hell during clean and press. Haha but overall it was a good satisfying workout!

And here's adrian joining my workout. Yes, boy cant leave me alone. So i gotta juggle between my fitness routine and being a sahm.

And here's my lunch for today. Pantry and kitchen ran out of veggies n meat. So i whipped myself up a bowl of oatmeak. Since i had toast for breakfast. Well anyone can eat breakfast all day long, no?

Apple cinnamon oatmeal!

Now to put the boy for his nap and head for my HIIT cardio workout!

Never ever skip breakfast!

I was eating breakfast this morning, which reminds me how i used to skipped breakfast in order to lose weight. Yes, i was once a fool too. I will not eat in the morning and i will obviously eat obsessively in the afternoon. Which in the end leads to weight gain.

Here's why you should eat breakfast;

1) it speeds up your metabolism. This is because your body needs fuel after the sleeping for 8 hours, which means your blood sugar level will drop in the morning. Eat a good healthy breakfast will improve your metabolism

2) so you dont over eat in the afternoon. As i mentioned earlier, u gotta eat small and frequent meal.approximately 6 meals a day. Eat in small portion to keep your metabolism running.

3) helps maintain insulin response. When you dont eat, it will lead to hyper insulin response when you consume food later in the day. Meaning your level of insulin in your blood is higher than the glucose level which will or can lead to metabolic disorder. End results= fat accumulation!

4) starts your day happy. Dont u realize that if u skip meal u tend to be grumpy? Haha yes! So eat your breakfast! Healthy breakfast i must say. Feed yourself with good carbs and proteins to start the engine in the morning.

Here's my breakfast this morning.

Banana Cinnamon Oats

1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 banana
2 tbsp almonds
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
Hot water

Mixed the rolled oats with hot water till the oats is soaked completely in the water. Then popped it in the microwave at HIGH for 2 minutes. Take it out, stir and put in your sliced banana in. Stir and popped it back in the microwave for 2 or 1 minutes.

Once its done, mixed your almonds in and sprinkle with cinnamon to taste! Total yums!

Excuse my ugly picture, i didnt have time to take nice pictures as Adrian is being a cry baby. It doesnt look nice but it is yummy!!!!

Its so easy to make that you cant have any excuse not to try! ;)

FitMom? Yes!

As you know from my previous post, i was dragged into this healthy circle because of my husband. Yes originally he was the one that i called fitness junkie. He needs to hit the gym every single day. I called him a loser. My bad. I didnt know that it was actually an addiction. In a good way of cos :)

So.. After giving birth, i told myself, ' self, you can do this. You just need to focus!'. Post pregnancy was the start of my journey. I started of with running on the treadmill( my mil owns a treadmill at home so need not need to go out for gym, and i can still look after my baby). Be aware, i did this all at home. So, theres no excuse that u need a gym pass in order to get fit and healthy.

I incorporated weights into my workouts. Yes, ladies, weights! You wont lose weight or burn fat just by doing cardio. You need to lift to burn those fats. I have tried many workout and lifting burns more calories at rest, which is important.

My workout previously consists of cardio, jillian's yoga meltdown and some of her other workouts. This are done on alternate day basis. I'll have my weightlifting day in between. You can start with light weight first not necessarily heavy ones. Saturday and Sunday is usually my rest day.

However, this has changed over a period of time, yeah your body stop burning fat when u do mundane exersices. You need to switch and spice things up.

To date: i am doing kettle bell workout, tabata training workout and high intensity interval workout (hiit). And also my dumbbell workout.

HIIT burns more calories than normal cardio at 1/2 the time u spend on normal cardio exersices. Tabata training is also a kind of HIIT, exersices are performed on 20 sec interval, 10 sec rest for 8 sets. Kettle bell... My love.. Thanks to the russian technology. Russian military uses kettlebell into their daily trainings. It looks like a bowling ball with handle, made with iron of cos. that kettlebell has left my arms sore for days. It is great as it gives overall effect to your body. Cardio + strength + flexibility. 3 in 1 i shall say :) interesting eh? You guys should give it a try. It works tremendously.

I got motivated cos im tired of people calling me fat. That im not normal than everyone else cos i was thick. My acquantaince used to make jokes about fat people and she turn around and look at me and say, sorry i didnt mean you! Thats pretty nasty eh? And im also tired of the mentality that once u become a mom you can never wear your pre pregnancy jeans cos your hips has expend and nithing you can do to save that.

Well darlings, i beat that statement. Im wearing us size 2 now, i was a size 6 before i got pregnant. I am no longer that fat girl people will laugh at, because the difference now is I'm not fat but i have fat. Each of those people motivated me in every single way. But my husband has been a real sweetheart, he is my biggest supporter. As you all know im a stay at home mom, i do not have monthly income, so my husband has been the sole provider for my fitness supplements, he is my dealer. Haha. Yes my husband sells fitness related supplements at a cheaper price that the market is selling. Waaayy cheaper. You can contact me if you are interested. Please do recommend to others too :) much appreciated.

Lastly, as you embark into this fitness journey, please remember that gym or workouts is only 30% the other 70% is faced in the kitchen. Dont waste your time busting your ass and end up eating crap, you wont be seeing results. Food is important. What you feed yourself is the key to everything.

You need to eat as clean as possible in order to see results. I have mentioned about clean eating in one of my previous post. You should get the basis of it by now. Go slow on sugar, sodium, procesed food, carbonated drinks, refined sugar and anything artficial. The simple key, if your food can go bad, its good for you but if your food cant go bad, than its bad for your. For example your chips, biscuits etc. u should get the hint of bad food by now.

Eat clean during weekdays and have 1 day off. This is what we call cheat day. But make sure you dont turn your cheat day into cheat DAYS! You gotta have self control here. Manage your portion, eat every 3 hours. By eating 6 times a day you are actually speeding up your metabolism. As long as you are eating the good food!

Now its time to stock up the kitchen with healthy food. Start slowly but surely. You can and you will. It is all in your mind!

Here's a picture of me today, celebrating my post workout. Bicep burnout baby. Killed my arms and back today. It was crazy 1 hour workout but totally worth it.

Gonna hit the sack, rest is much needed for muscles growth. Workout routines will be up next.

Take care my fitlove :)

healthy vs skinny

i always wanted to be skinny for my whole life. i envy people that can rock a skinny jeans and cropped top. but this weight loss journey has taught me so much about getting in shape.

i saw a girl the other day, so skinny and yes she looks good in skinny jeans. and i told my husband omg she's so skinny. and my husbands answer just gave me the answer i've been looking for. he said yeah she's skinny but not healthy.

yeah i just love my husband. which is true u need fat. fat is good. theres a difference between you are fat and you have fat.

now that i've achieved my goal weight i no longer have to battle w that being being depressed cos i know everyone can rock any dress. the trick is live healthy. exercise is the key point.

for the past year i have been exercising everyday and even days that im supposed to rest i'll feel guilty for not sweating. yeah im an addict.

so my point is eat healthy, live healthy and u'll be fine! clean eating is difficult but once u tried u know its all worth it. swap ur ingredients to a healthy choice. white rice to brown rice, white bread to wholegrains. everything white is badddd. hahahha bad for your health. swap ur full cream milk to soy milk. drink as much green tea as u can. its filled w antioxidant and it increases ur body metabolism. pop some iron into ur exercise routine. they burn more calories at rest. skip that yogurt please, try greek yogurt. they do your body good.

ohh yeah, cut your sugar intake. thats the most important. i've always skipped sugar nowadays. even my funny mountain soya is without sugar. its delicious right? that soya. try ordering the ones without sugar and u'll realized that for all these year you are actually drinking the sugar. because the no sugar soya taste like hell. hahha and my husband just found out and he was upset.

i tried putting my husband into my healthy fitness regime. but i must say his willpower has decreases along the year. guess he's tired after working and he just want to indulge. but i did make sure that he doesnt go overboard. hence he still manage to maintain his weight with a little weight loss. he does sprinting now. which is damn good! do u know sprinting is way better than running? hahah u dont right? 20 minutes of sprinting in a week is enough to burn more calories that running for for the whole week. i read that somewhere. must be from one of the men's fitness mags.

so my journey continue to a healthier, fitter and toned me! hope everyone out there are willing to give it a try! and good luck ;)

whats on my mind?

february is gonna end soon. how time flies. sigh.

so, i tried new exercise this week.pilates. and oh my god, it really works on my core. love it. ahh and i so need to practice more on my ball stability. i suck :( hubs has better core muscles than me. its depressing.

been slacking on my diet though. feels like killing myself for having those cravings. fuck the hormone pills.

adrian on the other hand has done so many milestones and hell yeah im so effin proud of him. but i gotta need more patience in dealing with his distress tantrums. which i reckon im getting better at it. yeah im hormonal and short tempered.

and he is still co-sleeping w me. pushed me around every night. but mommy still loves u to bits, adrian. i'll move u to ur toddler bed when u're ready, ya?

talking about him, the boy just woke up for his midnight feeding. gosh yes, up untill today we still havent got a full night slumber. there's maybe 1/10 nights that he slept through the night. pity my husband though, cos it his task to make the milk at night. argh thats why he's my man :) im just so blessed to have sucha helpful husband.

ok mommy's sleepy. till we meet again bloggie. xx

20kgs off the body..

As you all know, when i was carrying Adrian, i was 85kg. As soon as i delivered him, i shed 10kg ( water, blood, the baby etc). i was stucked at 75kg for almost 3 months when i finally managed to go down to 71kg. Then, the number on scale never moved. despite my dieting and exercising. ( was running on treadmill at this point and cutting off half of my rice portion)

then came Ramadhan 2011, that i told myself, i need to do something to lose this baby fat. i vowed to stop eating rice. LOL. well it worked. for the whole month with no rice, no junk food, no sugary drinks with only house chores. i shed 10kg. Yes believe it or not. i was 61kg during raya. Motivated by the weight loss. i started exercising. Jillian Michaels workouts, Jeannette Jenkins. You can find their DVDs in Speedy. IT WORKED. I am now 55kg and still counting :)

Training is just 30%. Food is 70% my friends. Dont waste your hardwork on bad food. and as u workout, do take supplements. I have taken Hydroxycut Hardcore( during gym days, way before Adrian. Yeap i've started long ago but never really focus into it), Hydroxycut Advance, Whey Protein, and my current obsession, L-Carnitine ( getting this next week).

However, the best supplements is still your will power ;)

Just calculated my fat percentage 2 days ago and its 22.4% (fitness level) this has make me even more motivated to continue cos i know its working. It takes weeks even months for you to see the results but when u do, it totally paid off.

and please, focus on fat loss instead of weight loss. the number on the scale means nothing. I'm not an expert but go on and google the difference.

Usually this will be my workout time while adrian is asleep but today im so fucking sore from the exercise i did 2 days ago. Maybe tonight.

gotta go now, little boy woke up and giving me a stare. Lol

p.s: oh btw im selling the supplements with cheaper price than GNC. WAY CHEAPER than GNC. Let me know if you're interested.
